Does REI crackdown on serial returners?

Like any true PNWer, I love REI but Im afraid I might be building a negative reputation for myself when it comes to the return policy for high-ticket items .... In the past six months Ive purchased a Salsa bike (~$990 w/tax) and an Oru kayak (~$1700 w/ tax) but ended up returning both, the bike after a couple weeks because it was too heavy/ slow to be my commuter and the kayak within a couple months because some straps were breaking and the build quality wasnt worth the price (fyi to anyone ...


Question About Portable Chargers for Tent Camping

Hi everyone! I'm new to this whole reddit thing so please bear with me here. :) I plan to to camping this year, but there's a huge snag in my plan which is this: as I am going tent camping which means I won't have electricity. So how am I to keep my camera charged to take photos of my journey (And ideally, keep my phone charged too just in case). I've heard that some of the more afforable options don't work really well which is a bummer because I'm on a shoestring budget ...


Need Help Picking a Backpack

So I need a backpack. I am specifically looking for something that can be taken on the trail but also from hostel to hostel while traveling. Therefore, after fit/comfort, the most important thing to me are the two features of U- or J-zippered front loading panel and removable daypack. I think that a lighter pack/smaller liter is better but not mandatory. I would prioritize pockets and features over a super light pack. Price is always important, but less relevant because I have some REI coupons. ...
