Winter jacket for walking commute

I'm looking for a winter jacket that will keep me warm as I walk to school on a daily basis in Southern Ontario. I was thinking of getting some kind of pullover fleece to layer with a hard shell jacket. Would this keep me warm compared to something like an insulated jacket I'm having a hard time finding comparisons between the two. submitted by /u/PurpleGatsby [link] [comments]...

Adding a second specific sleeping bag to my sleeping bag.

Hi everyone, I've got a duck-feather stuffed sleeping bag, which I like for the price I paid it. It says it goes down to 7'C during extreme condition. Last week-end I went camping and outside it was as low as 2 or 3'C. So I had to put every clothes I had, including a full merino pant and long-sleeve t-shirt, a jogging, a ski t-shirt, a fleece, technic socks and my stuffed coat (not really hot). It was hardly enough. I don't want to buy a second sleeping bag. Instead, I ...

Black Diamond Jackets

Hi everybody, So I'm new here but I was looking on advice for purchasing a jacket for the winter. I am from Nebraska so it gets pretty cold in the winters and I am also looking to use this jacket mostly for day to day wear but with the potential for skiing and hiking as well. I have some layers to work with under, but I am looking for something that would work as an exterior layer mostly. I am not super concerned with having a waterproof jacket but something that can handle some adverse weat...

We're trying to innovate the flashlight. Redesign big time

Peace World, Like the title says I am redesigning the flashlight with increased functionality applied. I have a working prototype for a piece of gear that acts not only as a flashlight but as a latern and tent light as well. We're providing plenty of light. 1000 lumens out of the front and 500 on the bottom ring of LEDs and would love some feedback on whether or not y'all in the outdoorsgear subreddit would use something like this and what could make it better! Thanks for checking out my...

New Boots?

I'm an arborist consultant for a local electrical utility and my work involves a lot of hiking in various terrains that can range from city neighborhoods for distribution circuits to woodlands following transmission lines. The company I work for will provide me new boots through an order from Cabelas and they did so about a year ago. The pair I ordered last year were Danners which did pretty well, but they are now almost completely worn down on the soles and by 9 or 10am each day my feet are...

Item description: This Hiking Skis product is by Nordica - The Nordica Ace Jr. is a great all mountain twin tip ski for little skiers that will rip up a groomer, and hit the park. The Partial Sidewall Construction has a cap construction in the tip and tail that increases the amount of forgiveness, and a vertical sidewall underfoot that increases the edge hold of the ski. Nordica's Energy Frame CA Core is the very same that is used in mellow adult skis, just fine tuned for smaller skiers to be able to bend and flex the ski with ease. A 74mm waist of the Ace Jr. is very easy for junior skiers to manage, but will also give them support for variable snow conditions to hone their skis both in the park and on the rest of the mountain. SIZES: 108 118 128 138 148 DIMENSIONS: 105-74-96 @ 128 RADIUS: 10m @ 128 CONSTRUCTION: Energy Frame CA Partial Sidewall... Learn More
